Eibach Prokit drop

Hey guys,
I was wondering...I have an 86 Z-28 with stock suspension. I want to get a stiffer ride so I want to get eibach springs and some sort of shocks. BUT, the eibach springs say that they will drop the car (on an 86 non convertible) 1.8 inches. The damn thing is really low already. So I am wondering if the original springs are worn and lowering the car more than it originally would. if I had 1.8 inches of drop then i will only have about 1 inch leeway. And i live in NYstate...hills/bumps galore.
If not Eibach...what spring/shocks do you recommend for stiffer handling? I just want to refresh my system, so should i just go with the OEM stuff?
Thanks!
--Dan
P.S. When I am turning from a stop with the wheels turned all the way right/left (like getting out of a parking space) I feel the suspension creaking...what causes that...should i be really worried?

well, the pro-kit only lowers 1" front/back the sportlines lower more, but the pro-kit will lower 1" vs stock... so since you car is is on 16yr springs, they have most likely droped a little, so you probably won't even see an 1" of lowering with the pro-kit.

thank ***

I saw the stats and for Z28 convertible it will drop it only 1 inch, but for a z28 it will drop 1.8 inches. Thanks for the post. Now I think I'll get them.

What about the creaking I hear? I mentioned that in the earlier post.
Thanks!!

(I fixed the sig...the guy who sold me the car gave me the specs on the engine)

The suspension on my 83TA has allways creaked and groaned a bit at slow speeds when making tight turns particularly if there's a small incline on the pavement. It's gone a 100k miles with no suspension problems yet.

If you've been greasing it all along I wouldn't worry about the occasional groaning noise from the front end. If it's like banging and crashing ie. something loose then have someone look at the car.

so..... im guessing that the prokit will drop mine about 1'' also..... my cars suspension is shot as it.... and its sitting pretty low..... i like where it sitsnow...... just not the way it bounces and performs b/c of the shot springs.... if i get the prokit will it drop it any.... or leave it about where it is.... i woulnd't mind going a little lower!!

I would bet your stance will stay about the same with the pro-kit vs worn out stockers. It'll just handle MUCH better.

Agreed, when I put mine on the Trans Am, I was slightly disappointed as I saw very little drop. Then I drove it. I highly recommend the springs.

There you go Dan! I just wish my back would sit a little lower like Chris's. I went with the Hotchkis 1" lower springs. Here's mine with the stock 16X8, 245/50/16 wheel/tire size.

I'll be happy to have mine at least sit level again. It currently sits higher in the rear with an even deeper sag in the front left corner.
I've got springs and shocks coming this week. That should fix it up.

I just added Eibach Pros and this is as true as any statement gets about MY experiences so far with the spring swap. Since I know the car inside and out I can detect a small drop over what I had but instead of sloppiness now the car handles the way it should and bottoms out LESS than what it did before, hardly nose dives under hard braking and just feels tight with alot less body roll. I also have a slight rake as the rear sits slightly above the front but maybe the car will settle with some time and miles on it?? If you are considering lowering springs and want to keep your stock height but with great handling and not be so concerned over obstacles in the road, the Prokit should make you real happy. I would want anything lower than what I have now to put anything on my underbody in harms way plus I feel I may have lost some weight transfer which wont bode well for my 60fts which I live and die on for my ETs. Its not a great pic but heres the car with Eibach Pros and KYB AGX struts and reg KYB shocks in the rear...

That's as good a take as I've heard on the deal!

Just though i'd say that 3rd gens look reaaaly ugly when they sit lower in the back than in the front.
Well, this add has convinced me to pickup the pro-kit.
Well done!
