Tires

Guys i have a tire question...just purchased a 92 z28 with 45,000 original miles..woooohooo..nice ride indeed. Okay question..the car came equipped with the SLP wheels for the camaro i believe they are 17x9 or 17x9.5? not sure about that. Well they have 255X40X17 bf goodrichs on them..I have a set of 275X40X17 bridgestones that i tried to slap on there....the back had no problem but the front was scrubbing on the ground effects when i went lock to lock...the front and the back both have wheelspacers already...will different size spacers on the front enable me to run those fat mothas? or am i stuck with 255's or 265's up front...thanks guys...first post...sorry for the winded question...thanks.

nah man, spacers won't eliviate the problem, what you need is a tighter ratio steering box with built in stops to prevent that but nothing came stock on our cars to accomodate 275s in the front. Stock size is 245 and 255 is about the max you can go without rubbage. There's a post in this forum now with a guy who's got 335's on the back but he had to modify his wheel wells to do it and even then they look like they stick out a bit.
