Ball Joints
Ball Joints
How can I check to see if my ball joints are worn/need replacing?? When i got an alignment (a while ago - maybe Nov),, the dude said the ball joints needed replaced. I didnt get then replaced, cuz I checked em myself, and they didnt seem to be shot...
A semi reasonable way is to raise the car and put it
on jackstands. The jack stand should be under the
k-frame. put the jack under the a-arm and unweight
that corner. Try to rock the tire (top to bottom)
No play should be present. Be careful if you weigh less
than 150, you may not be able to generate enough force...

if your car isn't acting up i wouldn't worry.
my car pulled to the side of the road as well as made very distinctive noises when the wheel was turned past a certain angle during slow rotation.
if your car has high miles you might want to do it, eventually you'll have to either way.
