my 86 SS outspots my 86 IROC
still noone has answered my previous question as to why these brakes are so pathetic...is it small rotors, puny calipers or the proportioning valve. i have installed a new master cylinder, flushed the system, turned the rotors and install oem pads...all of this to no avail. what is the answer....i cannot afford exotic caliper/rotors or converting the rear to disc. has anyone had any luck with different pads or another GM caliper from a different car, or what about changing the valve? please help me guys as i worry about the braking power. this car was in storage for 15 years and only had 13k miles...everything is in top condition
thanks

The brake sysyems on 82-92 F-bodys was pathetic,
with the exception of the (if your lucky enough to have 'em) 1LE brakes of the 88-92 cars. I to am looking for a solution to this problem. I currently have Russel stainless braided hoses and new calipers ready to go but i am looking for better pads and rotors. I saw an article in either "Hot Rod" or "Car Craft" or somewhere about a new pad amd rotor combo that Raybestos came out with that would give a 15% decrease in stoppnig distabce. I figure I might try that with the stainless lines to see if it helps. If anyone knows if these new pads and rotors actually help let us know.
