How is this possible???

I´ve been driving my Z28 for a while (about 2 weeks) with this small noise from the right front wheel. I thought it was the wheel bearings that was worn out.. so today I jacked the car up and spun the wheel around.. a little noise was there so I thought a loosen the wheel up and I couldnt belive my eyes... Two bolts were broken off! How the hell is that possible??? I mean sure I like taking corners hard but this is ridiculous. Have anyone experience something like that? The other bolts/nuts were tight..
Anyhow I have replaced the nuts now and I hope that the bearings are ok..

Stupid people with an air wrench can do things
that will amaze you...

If you can spin the disc by hand the bearings
are probably not too tight...

go for 12 ft/lbs plus 1/6th turn on the castle nut

90ft lbs on the lug nuts

But I don´t have such tools so I can measure that.. .. But do u think that it caused the bolts to break?

wheel studs are loaded primarily in tension (some shear)
Often ...
A mechanic will use a high powered air wrench to remove
studs. Professional tools can generate 500 ft lbs of torque

If that tools falls into the hands of a clown he may choose to
use it to replace the lug nuts ( thinks he is in the pits at a
24hrs ) the studs will stretch and weaken...

Use a torque wrench until you get a good "feel" for
some of the more commonly used tensions...

Always use one if you drive in a errr ummm "spirited" manner
