Welcome to the boards newbie.

Is the donor rear a 10 bolt? If so, just get a set of 10 bolt disc backing plates from your dealer or online at www.gmpartsdirect.com

Part number 10136854 (right) and part number 10136853 (left), a measley $10.73 each (gmpd)

Then you'll need calipers, cradles for the calipers, hard brake lines that go on the axle housing, e-brake cables, and brake lines. Rotors too. You could look on ebay and pick up a set of brakes for about $150 with most of the hardware included, and just piece the rest together as you go.

Oh yeah.. You MAY have to change out your master cylinder and prop valve..what car is this going on?

what I have now is 1988 iroc. auto. 4wh. disc. w/ 9bolt 2.77.
the rear I want to use is 10 bolt, drum brakes w/ 3.73's. As mine is already disc. do I just change the plates, as I have everything else?

I had the same setup. I just installed an '89 2.77 PBR disc rear in my '88 J65 2.77 rear. You'll need to do the brake changeover and swap out your master cylinder and your prop valve to the correct ones. Those are different for '88 disc (J65) cars. You'll want the PBR rear setup as those brakes are the cat's ***. If you don't know, your '88 plates will not work on the 10 bolt without some modification, which probably isn't worth it. Just get the 10 bolt plates as I listed before. I drove my 1LE equipped car today and I just CANNOT BELIEVE the difference. I can put my eyeballs thru the windshield!!

Read the "1LE" sticky post at the top of the Brakes board. It'll give you the correct parts you need. E-mail me with any specifics.
