HELP! How do i get the pitman arm off?!?!

Like the title says, how do I get the thing off? I just got a steering box to replace mine.....it still has the pitman arm attached to it, so i can either remove mine of my car (which sounds easier due to maneuverability) or I can take the one off of the new box. I need to get this done by tomorrow afternoon!!

PLEASE HELP!!

thanks in advance,
-BJ

Get a ptiman arm puller from a parts store, they are only about 15 bucks.

Sounds like they gave you a pickle fork.

the Pitman arm puller is shaped like 2 claws 180* apart with a bolt between them.

It is one piece of steel and a bolt.

go to the Matco tools website and look for part number Pa-60.

I forgot to mention that the price from a tool truck is at least twice as much as a stores' price.

Try a NAPA or autozone. I bought mine at autozone for $15.

One other thing.
I've found that after the bolt is tight, if I smack it with a hammer the arm will pop off. Sometimes. I'd smack it, then tighten the bolt some more and smack it again etc.....

Do you have a service manual ?
It makes life so much easier :hail:
