any way to get rear disc brakes to work better????

I just got my new 9 bolt rear end in the car and the brakes don't want to work very well. My question is can i do something to get them to grab a littler harder?? They haven't even grabbed enough to wear away at a thin layer of surface rust and i've driven it about 75 miles already! . I found that some people modified the prop. valve by removing a small spring and a plunger and had great results. I did that and got nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Those brakes are crappy no matter what you do, but there are 2 things that make a major improvement. The mod you mention is one, the other is the "update" that GM has for the calipers, to fix the lack of self-adjustment. Do a search of this BBS, both things are widely and frequently discussed, with part #s even.
