I just upgraded from 15" to 16" and fro optimal wear and handling am going to get an alighnment tomorrow.

Can I get by with a front wheel alignment or do the rears need to be aligned?

With RWD vehicles the rear is not adjustable. The front is aligned with the rear called a thrust angle alignment

Right!! Correction all RWD with the exception of independent rear suspension vehicles

well I got the alignment (front) but bumped a curb tonight both wheels took equal impact and it was
maybe 5mph. Hope it didn't do anything- seemed to drive okay though.

I treid to do a 180 but the car didn't have enough power and I ran out of room, going to fast- all I coud do was slam on the brakes
