bilstein shocks

was looking into buying some bilsteins shocks and I noticed they have 2 different kinds for our cars... the HD and the sportlines. One website said you should run the sports pt.#B46-1021 if you have lowered your car because the HD's pt.#B46-1121 would not work. Anyone know if this is true???

also, is it true that you should replace your tie-rod sleeves with adjustable ones if you upgrade to a larger diameter wheel?

thanks alot for the help

I got bilsteins. From what I've heard the sport ones are an inch shorter on the end where you tighten the nut when installing. The HDs are an inch longer if i rememberd correctly. I went with the sports since i have a lowered car. If you have a lowered car get the sports.

Cant answer the other qs.

This info is correct. But if you DID buy the HD, they will work just fine with the car being lowered (yes I screwed up and ordered the wrong rear shocks). I've been running Bilstein HD's with Eibach Pro-Kit springs for over 3 yrs now.

I'm not sure what you mean by "adjustable tie rod sleeves". I am using and recommend Hotchkis tie rod sleeves. Made from solid billet steel and much stronger than the OEM stamped version.

The difference between them is the internal shock valving and a very minor change in overall length.

Bilstein does recommend using the sports with the use of lowered springs, and there may be a warranty issue if used with parts that you were advised not to use them with.

The difference is increased suspension travel true the longer will work on lowered cars but not as good as the recommended set. That's one reason I've held off on purchasing the set for the rear all I have now are the fronts.

All tie rods have adjustable sleeves, this is what adjusts the toe when aligning the car. I think what your talking about is adjustable outter tie rods like the ones Baer sells for adjusting correcting the steering geometry after lowering a car. I don't think it's a major concern by just increasing wheel and tire diameter.
