Sqeeky Brakes & New rotors

Alright my brakes have begun to sqeek whenever i drive and when i press the brake it stops......

I'm assuming i will need new brakes??? Is this correct?

Also i might as well get new rotors while i'm replacing the brakes and cam accross a pair of slotted rotors on ebay.com

Here is a link and pic......Are these good and worth $100 pair??

Thanks in advance....

Have you looked at your brakes? It could just be some bad brake dust build up.

If you're going to be replacing them anyway, get some carbon metallic pads. They stop the car much better. I even got mine from *ugh* autozone. They've lasted for over two years!

Yes, that squeal is the wear sensor starting to scrape on the disc. It stops when you apply pedal pressure. The slotted rotors aren't going to be worth it. The idea is to allow gases from the pads to escape. Popular opinion now is that todays pads don't "gas" enough to worry about it. Some parts stores can resurface your existing rotors for a few dollars each (assuming there is enough material left). If not, just buy a new set of brand name rotors.

yeah we turn rotors at work for 7 bucks each, 10 bucks for drums. But if they're bad enough we will (and so will everyone else, who abides the law) refuse to turn them. Go to an autoparts store, ask if they carry Wagner, if they do ask for a set of MX154, those are the semi-metallic pads for our cars, really your best bet.

Well to be honest with ya you don't really need those slotted rotors, they're not worth the extra 40 bucks you're gunna spend on those. You can pay roughly 60 bucks for a new set of rotors (1 pair) from any parts store and they'll work just as fine. Personally I've never seen any need for "performance" brake systems, unless it's somethin like ABS. If it stops the car, and stops it well, don't worry about it.

I didn't get the rotors cause they were in good condition........

I did go with Wearever Sem-Metallic Brake Pads for only $24.22 at the local auto store and am satisfied with the pads and hopefully they last longer then my other ones......

this stop-n-go city driving is gonna take it's toll on them...
Thanks again for your help
