It is new tire time.... feedback is appreciated!

I had a blowout in my front left tire, so I am going to move my perfectly fine back tires to the front, and get two new back tires.

I am definetly getting Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP tires. Customer satisfaction, traction, cornering, etc is all excellent.

My only question is... for the rears, on my stock 16x8 IROC rims, stock suspension and rear, should I go 245/50/16 or 255/50/16???

I know that wider is definetly better, but I just want to be ABSOLUTLEY positive, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that they will fit on the rim and not rub. I definetly want the widest tire possible that I can fit because with the ZZ4/T56/3.73's the tires completely melt past 1/2 throttle in first gear. I know that tires will not solve this, that I need suspension work, but tired will help.

245/50/16 or 255/50/16 on the stock IROC rims, and suspension???

Thanks in advance.

Dragrace type tration the 255 would be better

For everyday driving and performance type handling the 245 will grip better in the corners. It fits the 16x8 iroc rims better than the 255 does. Less sidewall flex and overhang wobble.

Good choice of tire, I run these on my Camaro (245/50/16's frt & rear). Its the best 16" street tire money can buy. 17" go with BFG Z-force

decided to go with 245/50/16.... I'm not trying to comprimise handling, reliability, or my speedometer for the possibility of slightly better traction with an additional 10mm. Thanks.
