Upgrading to WS6 sway bars, have question.

My 85 Trans Am just has the regular suspension on it. I pulled both the front and rear sway bars off of an 88 GTA today and am wondering if I also need to grap the control arms or anything else? Will these new sway bars just bolt on to my suspension with no problems, or do I need more parts from that GTA? Also, are there any other suspension parts besides springs and sway bars that would warrant removing that would give me better handling than my current stock setup (I didn't take the springs because I figure they're old and worn anyway)?

Thanks,

Eric

The sway bars will bolt right up. If you have the mid-level suspension, then the springs should be the same as the WS6 ones.

i had no trouble swaping 36mm front/24mm rear sway bars into my 90 RS (stock 30mm/18mm).

Yup, the sway bars are a direct swap. Now you just need to get new bushings. I'd grab the steering box too, it's much better than the one in your 85. Don't bother with the LCAs and you're right about the springs, probably shot by now.

How much would be a fair price for the steering box? Also, I thought the GTA boxes were 1.25 turns stop to stop and mine is 1.5 turns; however, when I turned the cog on the gear box (steering shaft already gone) it turned 1.75 turns??? I could easily get it out because everything is already gutted on the parts car, but how hard would it be to put in mine? The guy said he'd give it to me for $25.
