Camaro weight numbers?

how many pounds are thirdgen cars? i have an 86 sport coupe, no ground effects, stripped down thing lol does have ac/heat though, how much do cars similar weigh without the driver?

i have a V6 car, but im more interested in V8's weights, (after i swap for a V8, just wonderin for 1/4 mile references lol) any V8 car's weights? any dam threads that post a few cars and info with weighing in info? lol im mostly interested in V8 sc's... w/out a/c, no crazy stereos that add a few hundred pounds, just a stock car. , or anything close, ill stop talkin/typin now, bad habbit

thanks!

seeing the times 4th gen LT1s run and they run 14s stock , and weigh 3600 pounds and such, does that mean stock motor in a 3rd gen is definately lower times? how much lower can i expect?

I have heard many people claim around 3550lbs but have not gotten the chance to weigh mine. Can't reliably say.

Well...I stripped my interior awhile back. And for the hell of it i checked to see how much they all weighed. Heres what I found...

Rear seat - 30lbs
Rear carpet - 20lbs
Front carpet - 30lbs

I havent tried weighing the seat...but I would say....15lbs or so

From my experience, early 3rd gen Camaros are the lightest. For example, my 1984 Z28 (A4, hardtop, 305 carb, drum rear) weighed 3350 with me in it. I weigh roughly 195lbs.

Yea from what I know its every 100lbs is about 1/10 off your e/t. But in other tests Ive seen even only 60lbs shave off a 1/10.

it probably really depends on how much HP you have to start with and your starting ET on how much that weight will help.

im dumb lol does a lighter you make the car mean the more traction issues you have with racing and high power cars?

no what i was getting at (i may be completely wrong here, mind you)

is that in a 3000lbs car that runs 5 flat, 100 lbs may not net him .1 of a second.

but at the same time, on a 2000lbs car, that runs 17. 100lbs may net him more than a .1 of second.

I wouldn't trust your smog papers unless they weight the car, cause if that is true my car is 2900 pounds

but ... if it is DAMN!!

GM wanted 82 to be almost as light as the first gen, so around 3000-3100, I think they managed 3150 or so with a Z28.

As the years rolled on the cars got a little "bigger".

I would say 3400-3600 for 87+
and 3200-3500 for 82-86

Camaros with GFX only also

for reference my GTA was most likely 3600+

Some friends of mine shipped their 1982 Z-28 (bought new and still own) to Hawaii (mid 80s) and back (in the early '90s) and they claim to know the exact weight of their car because they had to pay by the pound!

3240 pounds, to be exact.

PS, At, Cruise, tilt, etc.

When I work on it for them, it is noticably easier to push around in my shop than my '88 GTA.

I just checked my weight on a cat-scale. I weighted in at 3410.
Cat-scales read in 20pound increments. Does anyone know how accurate cat-scales are?

camaro weights

My 89 Iroc with air, t-tops, full power, sfc's, and a full tank of gas weighs 3390#. The car has aluminum cyinder heads. Places I have taken weight off since I last weighed the car(to lower et's): front and rear sway bar-28lbs, spare tire, jack, and wrench-41lbs, 1/4 tank of gas-75lbs. That should take off about .15 sec. or give me 1.5 mph in the quarter.

mine weighs 3560 lbs with a full tank of gas. It's fully loaded so it's on the higher end of 3rd gens...camaro's should be lighter!

i would think a rear sway bar would help more to be on, then to take off for weigh saving?
