Just Bought '90 IROC, Help with Front Suspension Squeaks
Needs some advice here. I just got a '90 IROC last week and I've checked it over pretty good. I had some very annoying squeaking in the front suspension so I greased the chassis. It still squeaks noticeably. It handles great in the corners so I'm not convinced any components are worn. I'm use to to the usual squeaks and rattles of third gen but this is more than normal. Any ideas or suggestion to stop it?

Has the car been altered to urethane bushings? If so the bushing undersides are dry and most likely the person that installed them did not grease them first. Zerk fittings don't work the greatest- you may have to pull down the bushings and grease them properly (I'd suggest just put new ones in at that time) to get rid of all the sqeaks.
Some of the newer urethane bushings are using grooves and holes in the design to help with lubrication- keeps them a little better lubed. Always best to coat the heck out of them with your finger before you install. In the case of a swaybar bushing, coat the bar itself with grease and the inside if the bushing even if it has a zerk, then don't torque anything untill the car in back on the ground and bushings are relaxed at ride height- Torque things off the ground and when you sit the car down the bushings will already be stress and twisted causing bind and early failure and more potential to sqeak.

I was think about the sway bar bushings too. Most of the squeaks are at low speed turning...like in and out of driveways, residential streets, etc... The bushing themselve are visually in good shaper with no cracks or wear.
