i need chassis advice...540 BBC in 85 camaro
ok, i have a 1985 camaro sitiing next to my garage, i bought it just for this project (long term) I'm planning on doing a full back half to it and building the chassis up. The motor going in it will most likely be a 540 BBC from Beck Racing engines. Right now i'm planning on doing a 4 link rear setup instead of ladder bars. but heres my main question... I could do the Jegs Jegster Semi-Welded chassis kit for a 3rd gen and build the car around that, like basically mounting the unibody on top of that. the other route is doing a full 12 point cage sub frame connectors and the back-half. I was wondering if anyone ever used the Jegster kit? or how they built a back-halfed 3rd gen(like what cages, sfc, etc) Im taking my time with this car, itll be a several year project, and i wanna do it right. Getting the 540 into the engine compartment isnt a issue or any of the drivetrain .. my main concern is having a chassis that can handle the 830HP of the engine. The BBC will then also have a 300hp NOS system on top of that. I'll be looking for 1/4 times around 8.70's so i also need to know what NHRA specs i need to meet chassis/safety wise. If anyone has any advice i'd be glad to hear it. Thank you. -paul
