Is this possible?

Ok so a bunch of us guys were bs ing last night about cars and such and suddely this one guy starts talking some stuff about the import races and some stuff he had "seen" .

Basically some guy in a hopped up camaro had so much power that when he gassed it the rims spun but the tires did not. After that he ended up in a ditch or somehting.

I called BS on the guy and he got crazy like "oo you wernet there bla bla bla".

I said fine , and figured I'd ask you guys.

Is this Theoreticaly possible or have any of you heard of it? I have never heard of anything like it in my life and I would think that for this to happen either the tires would have to be permanantly attached to the road or the tires not correctly mounted on the rim.

yeah its possible thats what bead locks are for. but that guy had to have slicks on there for the tires to hook up like that on the street.

I have heard people claim they saw that too. Sure it can be done, but you must have a $hit load of torque and bite for that to happen. I think it would be pretty cool to see actually!!

yes it is possible, although it is probably unlikely judging by the situation IMO

i did it with a set of 35" super swampers on a 85 chevy truck. lots of grip + low psi in tire = one screwed up bead. burnt it down to the coard then it went flat

get some sticky sticky tires

run them almost with no air in them....

make tons of torque

and sure it cna happen

but my question is why would he end up in a ditch????

it's not like the tires where spinning to get that back end to go anywhere correct?

if the moron had about 15 in one tire and about 6-8 in the other it would grab on one and not the other an sling shot him into the ditch
