anyone have Spohn TA w/o the safty loop
anyone have Spohn TA w/o the safty loop
I seen some problems fitting properly with the safty loop, anyone have problems with the install w/o the loop on a lower car, aftermarket exhaust, etc. Was it a bolt in deal or is there fab work to get it installed.
Some grinding here and there. The TA didn't fit over my axle, so I had to grind off the powder coating and a bit of the metal. No biggie, really. I just messed up the powder coating along the arm wiggling the thing on and hitting bolts with my fingers and such. The crossmember was a bit askew, so my tranny mount with 2 bolts wasn't an option, I had to switch to using 1 bolt in the center so that the crossmember can rotate. It was off a few degrees. All in all, nothing horrific. Most was somewhat expected, given tolerances and such. I could have ovaled the tranny mount hole for 2 bolts, but I just wasn't in the mood, and 1 bolt should work fine.
Hooking up the TA to the crossmember was a bit more challenging than I had anticipated, since it was so tight there and I couldn't get the bolts on and basically had to drop the crossmember completely so I could pull the TA down as far as I could pull it against the suspension and bolt it on. I had to turn the TA->crossmember bolt around because the bolt hit my transmission if I didn't. After the install, my engine does seem a bit lopsided about 1 or 2 degrees counterclockwise when looking at it from the front. I have a T-56.
Again, nothing unexpected and all fairly simple to resolve. I'm of the mind that any aftermarket parts require some modifications to fit. I'd still give the product a thumbs up, though. I've not installed other TAs, so I can't comment on the installation of other products. After the installation, the effects are noticeable, so the product does work.

We're using an oval shaped loop now that has eliminated the arm rubbing the side of the loop that some people had.
AGood2.8 - I have the crossmember angles lasered and formed now, and have them radiused even more then you do. The rear of the torque arm mount plate is still the same though, but if you're lowered over 2" it still doesn't look too bad! (note: we're talking about a 700/T-5 crossmember)

With that said, every product I have purchased from you is the finest fit and quality and the TQ arm pictured above was the only minor fab that I had to do(Because of my extensive lowering). I think its fantastic that you have an ongoing R&D on your products and are constantly trying to better them even when mostly not needed.
So now in conclusion (I'm kiss *** hard and its showing
) When are you going to make me a custom K-member and A-arms worthy of roadrace forces?
You don't have to answer that, I know you have your hands full keeping up with current product demands.
Thank you for the great products,
Dean- Orange Calif.

Yes, all of our crossmembers have lasered and formed mounting angles. They all have the 3 mounting holes per side now as well, so they will fit 82-83 or 84-92 cars. Some people have been tapping the third hole for even more strength.
I made a note on that just so people knew the crossmember AGood2.8 showed is for a 700/T-5. Some of the other crossmembers (ie T56, 200, 400, etc) look different then the one pictured.
