Ball joint press

Just wondering of anyone has any experience using the screw type of ball joint press. The machine shops around here are charging about $25 to press just one ball joint, and I can rent the screw type from autozone for free!! So is it worth my trouble, or should I just pay the $25 and stay headache free?
