Bang for the buck brakes?
Checked the archives and I just want to verify this. What is the best bang for the buck upgrade for brakes? For someone with not much of a budget at all.
Ain't got the dough for Baer or 1LE.
My car (4 wheel disc) is going to need new rotors. I already have Hawks HPS pads. What about rotors? What about brake lines? The car has 120,000 miles and as far as I know the lines are the originals.
The archives suggest that drilled or slotted rotors really don't give much of a benefit for a street car. Should I just get stock replacements? If it won't hurt anyway, what about these drilled and slotted rotors I found on Ebay? Are they any good?

Earl's SS brake lines... archives seem to indicate these would be the best upgrade to stock brakes (short of 13" rotors).
Should I just go for stock replacement rotors and SS brake lines?
Like I said, this is just my daily driver street car. Don't race it. I do enjoy driving it though
Thanks.

Since you've got a '92 and already have good rear discs, I'd say do either the C4, C5, or LS1 brake upgrades we've been working on. My entire C4 system (front only) will cost me less than $250.

Parts are easy to get and will give you the same if not better performance than the 1LEs for less cash. I'm not putting down 1LEs by any means, I LOVE my 1LEs. But if you're on a budget, look into these projects.

This is alloy AKA machinist until my alloy account is fixed. Anyway, read the C4 thread that Ed linked to and all the information you need is there. I've posted under both alloy and machinist in that thread.
I know that thread is a lot of reading, but when you are done you will know pretty much everything you need to get and modify, and how to install the brakes. There are also lots of pics in that thread.
Luke was going to work on a tech article, but haven't heard much about that lately. I was going to do an article, but why duplicate Luke's efforts.
Anyway read this thread completely and then come back and ask questions.

Luke is working on the tech article so I won't touch that, but I will have another "How-To" pictorial on my webpage of the swap, hopefully in early to mid-July. It will look a lot like my 1LE and suspension upgrade album since I will be replacing the ball joints, control arm bushings and installing KYBs up front. I should be able to get to it late this month, after the Nationals. I still have to make my brackets though. Otherwise, I'm all set to go.
To all interested, get your brakes from members of Corvette Forum, there are plenty of sets to be had from those guys, and they are a pleasure to deal with.
