3RD Brake light lense

I need a 3rd brake light lense for my 91 Z28 convertible. Not seeing them listed anywhere.

Any leads or suggestions here guys?

Re: 3RD Brake light lense

Any 87-90 Camaro lens should work, is my understanding. I grabbed the lens from an 89 RS and installed that on my 92 Firebird Vert.

That is what I thought, but I haven't been able to do more than hold up my empty housing to my buddies light and see that they are close. Appreciate it!

Re: 3RD Brake light lense

Hi there,
I used a center brake light lens from an IROC 3-piece spoiler, and it fits pretty good. The problem is the brackets are not the same. So I epoxied in a couple of plastic tabs and drilled mounting holes in them, and screwed in the lens. Almost perfect fit, except the bottom edge of the lens sticks out slightly from the face of the spoiler (approx. 1/8") Otherwise, it looks factory fresh.

I planned on making a non convertible one work, but got lucky and was able to run across a convertible 3rd brake light assy, so I may never know the fabrication process you went through haha! Thanks man. I'm sure it will be helpful for the next guy searching.

Can you explain what bracket is different? I couldn't see any difference between the one I pulled off of the 89 RS and the one that came out of my 92 Firebird Vert.

Re: 3RD Brake light lense

You were correct with your original information. There is no difference between the 88 through 92 convertible HMSL and the 87 through 90 Camaro coupe.

Re: 3RD Brake light lense

On my old brake light housing, the housing was longer than the coupe's housing. The mounting tabs in the spoiler were quite a bit farther back. So I took a couple pieces of plastic and some JB Weld and made tabs closer to the opening.

I thought they were all the same, but it did not work on my spoiler.

I thought I read elsewhere here that some factory ragtops used
a modified Ford/Lincoln piece.
There were pics clearly showing Ford script on it........................

Someone did mention that the Ford light may have run through mid-88, which could explain why he'd have the wrong light. I am amazed it would fit at all considering they look nothing alike. However, for a BADNBLK's 91, that would not be the case.
