What is the best grease to use when lubing up your chassi. I am wanting to go full synthetic. What are some good greases to use. What about for wheel bearings?

 

Any name-brand synthetic should do the job... I used to use Valvoline Syntec until I couldn't find it locally anymore, now I use Mobil 1. You can use the same grease for your wheel bearings.

 

Just out of curiosity, what color is the grease our cars came from the factory with?

 

Don't know, it's been many years since my car saw factory grease. What threw me off was all the grease (including the Valvoline syntec) I had used was black or gray; the Mobil 1 stuff is red.

As long as the back of the container says "Meets GM Specification", you're okay.

As far as compatibility between dinosaur grease and synthetic grease, all grease meant for cars uses the same "lithium" base. There's no compatibility problems.

Now if you grabbed a tube of marine grease or another grease that didn't use a lithium base, there might be compatibility problems, but I don't even know what those problems might be.
