welding the seams in our cars..

anyone here ever done it?
i would assume it would help stiffen the car somewhat.... and with how flexy our cars are to start with, i dont think it would hurt any....

other then making sure the carpets out of the way any comments, ideas, suggestions?

i would think this would be a easy way to help our cars stiffen up a bit....

I've seen it done but haven't done it myself. There's a LOT of seams on the bottom of the car and I think if you were gonna paint the whole car, I'd do it.

My cage builder welded in some of my seams...In the rear area especially...He pulled out that sticky liquid nails or whatever they used and mig welded the seams....He even built some steel supports on the pass side where that HUMP is..because it was thin steel and the cage puts stress there....Since it was ALL done at the same time I cant say what effect it really has...I mean the car was waaayy stiffer and felt tight as hell BUT probably has more to do with the cage than welding the seams...The guy welded them for me because he was afraid the cage wuld not be as effective with plates welded to PINCH weld/liquid nails panels.....

Take it for what its worth...

The guy that built it Welds all chassis for ARCA ??sp Trucks..

So he knows his ****..

This is getting to be a popular mod for the uni-body Cherokees that are taken off-road. Have heard good things about it in that context.

Makes sense to do it where a cage is being installed too.
