Help!

First off, I did not know where exactly I should post this, so if it is in the wrong place, my apologies.

Here's the deal, my camaro has weird tire wear and....well I dunno exactly what else. The thing is, my front tires seem to be rubbing on the inside of the fender well. They are bald on the outside but the middle of the tire has really good tread still. Also, when I am backing up and I turn the wheel all the way in one direction you can feel the tire beating against something....it's not smooth, it's like riding on an octagon wheel....I dunno if the tires on there are too big.....215/65R15......or what. I always keep the right air pressure in them, and check is every time I get gas (weekly)I had Gabriel struts and shocks put on about....4 months ago, and that included a wheel alignment, didn't solve the problem. They have "blown up" twice so far, apparently from over extension. The people at pep boys finally told me my bump stop was bent. The springs are still factory springs, would that effect the way the tires wear in this instance? I am not sure what is going on, does anyone has any similiar experiences? Any advice would be appreciated.....and I would post pics of my tires, but have no way of doing so. Just trying to figure out what is going on....
Thanks

Bent bump stop? Hm. Don't go to Pep Boys anymore. Find a "real" tire/brakes shop... ask around, there must be a shop around you that everyone talks great about. If I worked at Pep Boys and saw you had a "bent bump stop", I would've replaced it. There's foam bumpers that slide onto the strut pistons, maybe the idiots threw those away with your old struts?

An alignment should've solved the tire wear problem - unless the morons did the alignment improperly. Any worn/loose suspension components (i.e. idler arm, center link, etc) would've shown up during the alignment, and prevented them from getting an accurate alignment done.

So try somewhere else. Ever replace the idler arm or center link yet? How many miles does the car have on it? The idler arm and center link are "wear items" on our f-bodies; meaning, they wear out just because of age. Those two will have an impact on alignment.

And as for turning the wheel all the way in one direction and feeling rubbing- don't turn the wheel all the way. Seriously. The tires can rub the inside of the fender that way. Just do an extra turn in a parking lot to turn around.

Yeah, needless to say I am never taking my car back to Pep Boys, for anything. I am trying to save up to get new tires and rims, but I was just wondering if it would do the say if I got bigger rims and what not.

The car has a little over 140,000 miles. I was planning on doing the front suspension rebuild....but I need money, and to get money, I must obtain employment. So as soon as I get some mula, I plan on replacing the whole front. I was just wondering about the rubbing because it's not just went I turn the wheel all the way, just driving down a slightly bumpy road you can feel it rubbing. I dunno if the struts still have those foam bumpers. Once I find a different compitant shop I'll ask about those. It's just annoying to see that they are wearing so unevenly and I would like to know what's up with the wheels/tires/suspesion. Thanks for the reply and info....greatly appreciated:yourock:

It rubs all the time? Try pulling the tires off and looking for rub spots. Maybe your plastic inner fender loosened up and the wind's catching it and pushing it into the tire?
