They'll wear out quickly on the street.

Rod ends in general wear out pretty quick on the street. You can prolong the wear quite a bit by using rubber boots made for rod ends, or by using greasable rod ends, but they'll still wear out fairly quickly (likely within 10,000 miles or so).

If you have some in the shop, it couldn't hurt, right? Basically it makes your sway bar act like a bigger bar, and a bit more quickly. It makes it easier to set a car up for competition too.
