Omg! Lol

You will never believe what happened!
I was driving my car and when I slowed down I heard some grinding coming from the passenger side front brake.
The first thing that came to mind, was that the pads were wore down and needed replacement.
So I didn't drive it for the whole weeked, as I was too busy to even check the brakes.

Finally Sunday afternoon with a hangover(LOL) I go to check them out.
Turns out that the caliper pistons (long screw like studs(2)) were missing!
I didn't see them anywhere, nor did I see any signs of them flyin off at high speed and leaving a dent/scratch anywhere either.
I was confused!

Anyway, I just replaced them without having to jack up the car!

Just wanted to post this and see if anyone has ever experienced this. Oh, and I do need to put some brakes on, but I still have another good months worth of pad left.

Well about 2 months ago the brakes were squeeling(sp).
So I went over to my Dad's house jacked up the car and took off both front tires to replace the brake pads. But after looking at them we realized that they were only half way wore down.
They haven't been replaced since I bought the care, so who knows what the previous owner used.

My dad started second guessing himself saying "I wonder if I had the bolts loosened a little?" "I don't think I did... I'm getting old!" LOL
Now that I think about it, he may have, because the threads aren't stripped and I don't think they just came un-done by themselves!

I started working on cars with my pop's when I was like 8yrs.
I've learned alot and 15 years later I have never seen him mess a car up! He is an Engineer but his hobby is Fast cars and building them up!
But maybe he's getting old!
At least I heard the problem and didn't drive it until I knew what it was! Safety! heh

I was oddly missing 1 caliper bolt about a month ago. Wondered why the brakes felt to grind in reverse.

It would be highly recommended that you remove the wheel and check the inside of it (and the caliper) for excessive damage, because the grinding you heard was the caliper scraping against it. Since both your caliper bolts were gone, the wheel was the only thing keeping your caliper from coming off.
