Suspension Recommendations

Ok, this is what I have done to my car so far.
--KYB Gas-a-just Shocks
--KYB GR-2 Struts
--Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace
--Lakewood Lower Control Arms
--Spohn 4140 Chrome Molly Front/Rear Sway Bars w/ Polly Bushings.
--Spohn Adj. Panhard Bar w/ polly bushings
--Spohn Subframe Connectors
--Eibach Pro Kit
--BMR Torque Arm (just ordered)

Now, do u think I should go with different shocks and struts? What else could I do here? Maybe replace my a arms? I want this thing to handle nicely but its my everyday car so not to rough.

thats close to my setup right now, and its really nice for driving on the street. but KYB shocks and struts suck IMO. I have them on my car because i can get really good discounts on them, but never again will i buy them for the camaro. i plan on changing to something better late this summer, but i havnt decided what yet.

the saying holds true in shocks and struts also, you get what you pay for.... unfortunatly i learned this the hard way

Yeah, they were one of the first things I did to my car. I got a real good deal on them and they are decent for the street ride I guess. I have been looking at some blisteins though. Or maybe the KYB AGX's. I think I am gonna upgrade my tires to but I am not sure what kind just yet.

Some Kumo Ecstas would be really nice - and nice rhymes with price in a big way

I run Nitto555Rs (drag radial) on my rear, and I think they handle better than any street tire I've used. They even grip GREAT in the rain. I run them at 25psi to wear them evenly because they're much softer. They'll last 10,000 miles if you aren't a monster all the time - and that's fantastic for a drag radial. Just a thought.

Uhm, the KYB gr2/gas a just setup is good for the price. It is better than OEM for sure - but you look like you could use a better setup at this point. I'd go for Bilsteins or Konis personally if I had all those suspension goodies you have (eventually I will).

I was thinking of replacing my a-arms with tubular ones, but I think for now I'm gonna upgrade my sway bars, I got 30/18 now, and I want the 36/24 ones. Sway bars should help handling and not affect ride quality.

I already have a polly trans mount and I do have the Kumho Ecstra tires. I am not a HUGE fan of the tires but they are VERY good tires for the price. I was actually thinking about getting Nitto555R's for the rear and possibly something else for the front but I am worried that having 2 different tires brands and designs would look kinda odd. Do u have any good pics of your ride?

I tried installing a wonder bar awhile back but I have this b&m racing trans cooler that is RIGHT in the way where the wonder bar usually bolts up to. So that idea kinda got thrown to the wayside.

Mitch Dogg, u will love the swaybar upgrade. Felt great after i put mine in. Whos are u going to go with? I went with Spohn's. Great product.

I'm not sure yet, I was looking around for one from a GTA or somethin, but I haven't had much luck. I'm probably gonna go with Spohn or TDS.

Have you looked at Bilstein shocks/struts?

Also, is your Spohn bar hollow or solid?

I have looked at the Bilstein shocks/struts. We installed them on my buddies 94 Z28 and he really liked them a lot. The spohn bars are solid in the rear and front.

well for the street driven car i think sway bars, shocks/struts and springs are the only real important thing. sbfc's, wonder bar and strut tower bar definately nice as well though.

i don't know what good it is to you but my new suspension requires me to loose my bilsteins. i'll give you my rear shocks so long as you pick them up or pay shipping. i'd give you the fronts but they are modified for coilovers. not that they wouldn't work but i have over 400 in modifying them on top of their price so i'm keeping them....

let me know.

What is the goal? All out handling? Different look? Different ride?

I think the Nittos look killer. They literally look softer and stickier.

Makes the car look ready to rock.

Tell ya the truth, its all of the above. Have a great handling ride with a unique look (but not to extreme) as in a different ride from everyone else. But I am kinda covering the last to areas with the way my car looks right now and the engine that is going in.

Jeff, I might take you up on that offer for the rear shocks. How many miles are on them? And what is the offer?

And I agree D Stroy H8. I love the way the Nitto 555R's look and there a great street drag radial. But I am just a little worried that it will look odd to have 2 totally different kind of tires on the front and back as my daily driver.

Eh... I suppose they look a little different. However, my car is usually covered in dust and dirt so it has an overall balanced tone

Assuming all the bushings are good (it sounds like they are) and you are happy with the stance of your current springs, I would recommend you do the strut/shock upgrade first. Since you want good handling, but also a good ride, I'd sudgest something that is adjustable. Koni's and Tokiko's come to mind. This way you can adjust it to the feel and firmness you want, or maybe even set them softer for street driving, and change the setting at the track. Adjustable parts are good because they give you alot of options when it comes to performance versus comfort. But I recommend you mark the neutral setting when you get them from the manufacturer so you always know where neutral is. The Eibach springs seem to be a good choice for what you want because they are progressive rates. It will be softer when you are cruzing (nicer ride), but stiffen up when you take turns (nicer performance).

When it comes to performance you usually sacrafice some ride comfort for a better handling car. But if you want both good handling and a nice ride, I think adjustable dampeners and progressive rate springs are the way to go. It as close to the best of both worlds that you can get IMO.

If you wanted all out handling I would recommend a different setup.

this car has to be able to make good times at the drag strip though too. So I don't want to go to extreme on the handling to where it sacrifces that later down the road.

It doesn't have to be the nicest ride in the world. But I would like it to be able to out handle a lot of cars.
