Are 82 strut towers different then 86's?
Hey guys me and my brother kinda put my Edelbrock STB on today and well the main brackets that bolt to the strut towers didnt even line up to where there was enuff of the strut tower under the bracket to bolt it down. so we made some spacers out of 1/4'' mild steel. then i welded them in place. after we did that and drilled and bolted everything together and we go to install my hood pins, we shut the hood and well the brackets hit the hood. we're 100% sure its the spacers we made. my question is that is there a big diference between 1982 strut towers and 1986 strut towers? becuz my brother has the same stb on his 86 sport coupe and it bolted in no problem.
the only thing we can think of to get this to work is push the main brace down and redrill holes and then chop off the rest of the bracket. what do you guys think?

Right.... the strut towers themselves are the same, but they changed the strut bearing mount. I'm not sure what year though.
Get a pair of those off of a newer car.... 86 up, it would appear.

okay well i think im goin to modify the brackets from edelbrock just for now and then make my own brackets that fit in that area but will hold the ends of the main brace. and i need to change my strut mounts someday, those i havent replaced just yet, been lookin at those billet alumin strut mounts, i wounder if theres any problem with those fitting on a 82-86 camaro/firebird.
