How to tell a worn suspension
How to tell a worn suspension
I'm hearing about how a bad suspension is a parasidic power loss. I'm about to start modding my car and want to know how to tell if my suspension is in need of repair before i start working on the engine. What is the best way to tell how worn my suspension it. Also, what is the typical height off the ground of a 91 RS?

When you ride down the road does your wheels bounce a lot? Have someone follow you and have them watch your wheels as you go over bumps. If they oscilate for more than a second or two chances are you have worn shocks and springs. Also, if you have origonal parts on your car with anyamount of miles chances are they are worn out from just age alone. My car only has 34,000 miles on it but my rear shocks are completely shot from age. These cars are very good handelers and you should not feel any excess pitch or body roll when braking and cornering.

I have always heard the general 2 bounce rule. Bounce the rear end up and down w/ your weight a few times, then stop. If it bounces back more than 2 times then its time for new shocks/springs. Or if it has way more travel than you know it should. That is how I knew mine was shot. It traveled way to much over bumps... WAY TOO MUCH...
