rear disc brake adjustment

When I had my car e checked the guy who drove my car said he couldn't get the rear wheels to stop turning on the rollers until he put the car in neutral and suggetsed i get the rear brakes checked. I have an 89 GTA and the haynes manual says that these are automatic adjusting. Does anyone know if there is any way to adjust them. Thanks -John

They are automaticly adjusted. Id suspec something like a metering valve or a plugged line. Was this a dyno your car was on? Didnt they have a dyno brake? You really shouldnt use a cars brakes to stop the dyno.

No it wasn't a dyno it was at the emissions check station. The car was turning the wheels and the roller just by being in gear when the roller was in it's "neutral" state. If there is no adjustment then I will try replacing the proportioning valve or maybe finding an aftermarket one to hook in that is adjustable. Thanks John

You've got the PBRs back there. There's a seldom known trick on the PBR rear calipers. There's a small (read: Tiny) Allen set screw that you need to adjust right to get the e-brake to properly make contact with the rotor. I've posted pics of it in here somewhere, I just can't find it at the moment. I'll get back to you on this.

Thanks Ed. I have the trans and driveshaft out and can easily get at everything so I figured now was the time to get these brakes sorted out and working. I'll get out there tomorrow and let you know what happens. Thanks again -John

Well I went out there and after a liberal coat of penetrating oil to all the e brake cables brackets and springs the e brake was working like a charm. I had my girlfriend get in and push the brakes and I couldn't move the tires at all by hand. Guess the backs are working now. Thanks again -John
