Upgrading to larger sway bars
Hi everyone,
I scored for free a 36mm and 24mm sway bar that I want to put on my '82 Trans Am.
I know I will need to buy new bushes, but I'm not sure about the two clamps that hold the front sway bar in place. I don't know what you call them, but I think they're a C shape and the hold the sway bar in place in the centre (I'm not talking about the end links).
Question is, with going to larger sway bars, will I need to get different (presumably larger) C clamps? Or, will the larger bar with the new bushes fit immediately?
Also, will putting poly bushes on the sway bar affect ride quality much? I like how my car handles now, but I want to make the ride smoother.

The stock "C" clamp will work. Poly bushings and end links in this area won't affect the ride much, if at all.

Presumably, poly bushings will show a significant improvement in this application over rubber? If it's only a slight improvement then I'd probably go rubber since it's cheaper. I'm looking for a good return on the money spent if you get my drift.

The 1LE bushings are made of a higher durometer rubber. The 36 mm is GM part # 14094389, the 24 mm 10037104. The poly end links which were stock are part # 10221779 for front and rear.
