New Brakes ... New Vibration
New Brakes ... New Vibration
I just got my entire brake system redone (rotors, calipers, drums, shoes, pads, hoses, repacked bearings...) by the local Midas shop. Now, the car vibrates pretty bad at 60 + mph. Steering wheel does not vibrate and it is centered. Seems to vibrate at these speeds for any RPM.
I am taking it back to them today. Vibration was not there before, so what did they do wrong?
Thanks,
Doug

coulda knocked off a weight on the wheel....or they didnt put the wheels on right in the tightening sequence.....bearing not fully seated....warped disc.....number of possibilities that they will claim they didnt do...and find something else to say is wrong , then charge you for that....

Yeah...I'd double check the wheels. Make sure that they didn't ROTATE the tires. I've heard of shops doing that as SOP....not realizing that our cars have different wheels front and rear.
A wheel weight that mysteriously disappears could easily cause your problem
Watch them very carefully. If they don't fix it for free immediately and try to make excuses, stand yoiur ground and tell them to fix it now....or you'll take it somewhere else and they will be billed for the costs.
