Rear brake upgrade, need a little help
I have a 92 Trans Am with the aluminum rear brake calipers. I just bought a 99 TA Rear end, complete with emergency brake cables. I know the rear will bolt in, but do I need to modify the e-brake cables? Should the LS1 or the stock 92 cables work?
Could I just swap the internals(posi, gears etc) over to the 92 rear end since I have the 28 spline axles already? Would the bigger rear LS1 brakes swap over and bolt onto my 92 flanges?
I am going to be doing this swap this weekend, So I'll report back with pictures.

The LS1 cables will work, but you'll need to fab up a bracket.
A 4th gen rear is wider then a 3rd gen. So if your wheels are for a 3rd gen, you wont be able to use the 4th gen rear. The advantage of a 4th gen rear is when your running 4th gen offset wheels - then you wont need spacers. Everything will swap over from the 4th into the 3rd, except axles.

I beg to differ on one point.. you can run your 3rd gen wheels, but they'll just stick out a bit more and push the tires out to the edge of the wheelwells. No biggie though..
Mounting the e-brake cables will be your only issue.
