Suspension parts and labor

Hi guys.first time posting on this forum

I have a 1982 trans am 62k original miles
at at a local mechanic I'm being charged


u-joints>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
front trans pinion seal>>>>>>>>$200 parts and labor
selector shaft seal>>>>>



shocks and struts $485 parts and labor

rear springs $300 parts and labor

idler arm $150 parts and labor

worm gear adjustment $25

diff cover seal $182 parts and labor

What are fair price for these thing. I smell prices

sounds high to me. call some other shops in your area and ask for a quote. there is no front trans pinion seal, there is a front seal.

That is awfull high for rear springs and shocks. I can swap those out in a matter of minutes. It is that easy. What partds were they going to replace them with.

$182 for a $10 diff cover gasket and fluid? You're being had, my friend. Spend $15 on a Chilton's or Haynes manual and do it yourself.

Click the link in my sig, you'll find a lot of info and pics on how to do most of the suspension stuff yourself and keep your hard earned cash. It's not hard!!! Just take your time.

I could do the work myself but I never have time or proper tools to work on my car,So it's not that easy for me. For now since I'm an unemployed 19 year old I have to go with the basic stuff,If i had the cash i would go all out koni shocks,sfc's and everything.But money is tight.Oh well i guess ill have to keep on driving my car the way it is.
