want to swap 4th gen rear discs onto my 10 bolt drum rear
Ok, I have a set of PBR rear calipers, caliper bridges, 10 bolt mounting brackets, rotors, and e-brake cables, all from a 96 Camaro. I want to swap them for my drums I currently have on my 92 Z-28. I have a few questions.
First, are the drum and disc axles the same? Will the drum axle fit under the rotor hat of the 4th gen rotor? How about length, will I have a problem with the rotor being spaced out from the rearend enough to bolt the caliper on?
My second question is about the mounting brackets that bolt to the rearend. Is the drum backing plate bolt pattern the same as the disc bolt pattern? Will the 4th gen brackets bolt up to my rearend housing? I read in a few posts that I will have to do some cutting of old ancor bolt brackets, which isn't a problem.
Basically my question is this: Can I swap LT1 4th gen rear brakes for my current 3rd gen drums while retaining the current 3rd gen 10 bolt rearend.
P.S. I did a search, and I couldn't anything on these perticular questions.

i just did the ls1 swap on mine. i heard something about different axles, but it wasnt a definite but i didnt have a prob, but the ls1 have the different (better) parking brake design, so its on the inside of the rotor like a drum. no problem with the spacing. you will have to cut the drum bracket right along the bottom of the big hole on the drum brackets, and then drill 4 holes. check this article out, itll help alot https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...reardisc.shtml
