Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 9-bolt 3.45
9-bolt carrier? Is this it?

Okay, this is strange to me. I thought that the carrier is more than just this.

I have a series 2 and I need the 3 to get some higher (numerically) gears. Is this all the carrier is?

yeah the carrier is the piece that the ring gear bolts to and the part the axle splines mesh with, or what's under the cover on the rea end
