Need Tire Recommendations

I still have the tires on my car that were on it when I bought it and there about half gone but I'm replaceing them anyway.
There not worth a ****,There only good for a burnout contest.
Traction is terriable and it doesn't take much for them to brake loose. They are GoodYear Eagel GT II's. 245-50-16 front 255-50's rear. I need ones that get decent strait line traction as well as handling like in autocross but I don't want them to be so soft that I'm only going to get 20K miles out of them.My car is used mostly for cruise in's and carshows but I see some drag strip and autocross runs in it's future. I have subframe connectors, boxed lower control arms,LCA relocation brackets already and will probably swap out the WS6 springs in the near future. I figure there shot with 130K miles on them. So any tire recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Its hard to suggest a good performing tire, that last a long time. they just do not go together. you either get sticky tires, or you get tire life. but not both.

the Kuhmo 712 is probably a good compromise, a nd it is fairly cheap. The BFG KDW is another tire that alot of people like. any of the upper end tires are going to be a good performer, weither it is the Michalin Pilot, goodyear F1 serries, bridgestone potenza, ect.

I know it's a compromise,It's just I had a Iroc with Yokahamas and they were gone by 10K miles.
My car is only driven 8-10K a year and I don't want to have to buy tires every year.I'f I can get a couple summers out of a set and still get good traction, I'll be happy.

Ive had my Goodyear Eagle HP plus 255-50 zr16s over a year.12k plus miles & i can barley see any wear on them.At $131 ea i cant complain. They are also dirctional tires & the quietest goodyears Ive ever had.Handling is great too,but thats also due to suspension mods.

I thought I had GoodYear Eagle GTII's front and back but I was wrong. I only have them on the front. I've got GoodYear VR 50's on the rear and there terriable.I've had old Bias Ply tires that hook better than these. I'm gonna check into the Kuhmo 712 and the BFG KDW that Dewey mention and probably go from there.
I've had BFG's before and they we're OK but I don't have any experience with the Kuhmo's but from what I've read, everybody here really likes them.
