i need help with rear end and steering

i have my engine and tranny out of the car... AND the torque arm. when i went to let it off the stands, the rear end was trying to roll backwards... so now it's still on stands, but lowered to the lowest point. the wheels are up enough to where they can still turn, but i need to know if i can still set the car all the way down, or am i screwed in to having to put the torque arm back on? i want to be able to roll the car out so i can clean out the engine bay and tranny tunnel while everything is out. the control arms are still on, but like i said, it's wanting to roll and the spring coils are on the edge of their seats, so to speak, but not looking like they'll pop out...

next question - power steering pump is also out, so is it cool to be able to steer the car, or am i just gonna push that fluid in the gearbox right out of there? or do i need to connect those two lines together for now?

HELP - i'm about ready to push it out and get it cleaned up...

i think you need to put the torque arm back on and rest it against the tunnel.tie the ps hoses up out of the way and you'll be ok

If the back end wants to roll back i dont see how attaching the torque arm is gonna help anthing unless you mount it to the body somehow.

Steering the car with the ps hoses disconnected wont do any damge. It may leak out a little fluid so just put some rags on the hoses and fill it up when your all done.

yea, i know with the torque arm attached but with the tranny out, there will be the "spring tension" against the tunnel and i could put a heavy rag or piece of wood up there to protect the tunnel... that's why i was thinking i'd have to put it back on to prevent the axle from rolling backwards and really breaking something... i just have to roll it straight out of the garage and then straight back in, but the rolling backwards is what concerns me... i was hoping that with the car's weight coming back down on the axle it would keep everything seated. i suppose to a certain degree the panhard bar would help prevent it from going under. any other thoughts, lemme know. thanks again.

The trailing arms should keep the axel located just fine. Theyll only allow the axel to flex so much one way or the other.
