Has anyone ever had any trouble getting the ball joints out of our lower a-arms with the rented Autozone ball joint press??

I cannot get the contraption around the ball joint. I get it pretty close, but never can get it all the way around it. What gives?

I have tried the "BIG HAMMER" method of getting these things out with no luck.

Any other suggestions?

I used a three pound hammer to drive them out, and a press to put them back in. Sometimes, ya just gotta play with the adapters and such to find the correct combination. Beating them out is some serious exercise, but, it works.
