Steering Problems (Bad Box?)

Hello,

I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Here is the situation. I had the entire front end of my car rebuilt and when I got it back, there was significant play in the steering. Oddly enough, it was a little hard to turn and didn't return to center very well. I adjusted the steering box on the top about a quarter of a turn, and that helped remove some of the play, but it still does not self center, and feels too tight. I am beginning to think that I may need to do the other adjustment, which requires removal of the box. Or perhaps that is not the problem at all. Maybe the box is fine, but the column is bottomed out (something I saw in another thread). Is there any way to narrow this problem down further? Perhaps I should just bring it somewhere. I would hate for them to suggest rebuilding the box or something and have that not be the problem.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Rob
