I'm having some Spohn SFC installed in a couple of weeks on my 1989 TTA (like a GTA :-) and was wondering if any of you removed the side ground effects when you installed / welded the SFC's in place? I will remove the interior carpet etc but is a bit worried about the plastic ground effects.

No, the ground effects will be fine unless you are a rather careless person! I'd advise taking the seats and various bits of interior trim out. Folding the carpet up and towards the transmission tunnel is absolutely fine. There's no need to remove it completely.
BTW is your TTA modified in other ways? Ever took it to the drag strip?

Thanks, I will have a professional welder do it for me. He does custom bike frames for a living over here.
I'll remove the seats and lift the carpets on both sides and I should be fine then I guess, I'll keep a fire distinguisher (spelling :-) handy just in case
My TTA has been modified, trany updated with performance parts, engine with polished pistons, ported heads, updated cam. 3" down pipe and 3" cat back exhaust all the way. Rear suspension all poly bushings, boxed LC's, BMR panhard bar and a few other bits and pieces. But it's all stock looking as you can see on my web site.
I will do some work on the front suspension and detail the engine bay during the winter.
Will do the SFC's then a custom strut tower brace as well. Used to have a 84 TA as well that I sold recently and that was a hardtop and driving that one compared to the t-top TTA as like night and day that is why I will have the SFC's done.
