You have many options based on the transmission choice, However, the stock torque arm will not work with an aftermarket mounting system. You will have to go with an entire torquearm and mount setup sold together.
Here are an example of some;

Im not sure I follow your answer?The engine and tranny are out of a 86 Buick Regal: 305 4bbl,4-speed auto overdrive.The tranny is a 1 piece metric (Canada car).The tailhousing is part of the tranny,non-seperateable.
Some guys have shown me what they did but attaching 2 u-bolts to secure the torque arm to the tranny just seems.well.....SCARY!
I have access to a Licenced welding shop so fabrication is not a problem.
My main concern was lining up the torque arm right, as not to create stress points.Sure it would be easy to replace the tranny with one originally out of another third gen but this motor-tranny have less than 100,00km on it.
Are there no other ways other than purchasing new hardware?
Thanks Again

Without pictures of what you are talking about, I have no other way of helping you. I have no clue what you mean by a 1pc metric tranny. Is there a technical code for the tranny? (700r4,C4, powerglide etc... to give examples)
