Caster Setting, best to use...

I did some research and I still don't understand the caster (Toe and camber seem simple), but anyway, does anyone know what is the best setting to use for straight line performace and high speed stability? Is more positive caster always better? how can having too much or too little effect drivability? Should I go with 4, 5, or 6 + ??? Thanks.

For drag strip only you want as much positive caster as possible.

If you draw a line through the upper and lower balljoint, positive caster would have the upper ball joint slightly behind the lower one.

Too much and turning becomes difficult. Look at the very old front engine dragsters with the old wire spoke wheels. When they turned the wheels, the wheels looked like they were flopped over on their sides.

Thanks, but what setting would you recommend for my car? (1988 305 TBI 700-R4, mild to moderate mods) I'm more interested in straight line speed, not cornering...thanks

from what I understand more pos caster is supposed to help straight line stability at the expence of you have to force the wheel harder to get the tires to turn.
