quick 9 bolt question

I am pulling the axles out of my 9 bolt BW rear end. Do I need to replace the bearings and seals. How do I do this. Do I need the special GM J-22912-01 and J-8853 tools?

Thanks

Yes it is a good idea.

No you do not need the tools. You need to take them to a machine shop.

Not only is it a good idea to replace the bearings when you replace the seals, you HAVE to. Unlike a ten bolt, the bearings on a 9-bolt are press-fit on with a press (hence the need for a shop with the right equipment). You have to destroy the old bearings to remove them.
