Lower rear end???
Hi, I was just at my tire shop and we found some decent used tires. They were wider than stock, pretty wide, but were shorter than stock. A bit shorter.
I was wondering what shorter but wider tires would do in the back?? Would it be a problem. I thought that this raised front end would help cooling but I am not sure of what it would do to the driveability or the suspension.
Thanks for help.

How much difference in height would there be between the front and rear tires? Why not just take the smaller tires and run them up front? Or are they so wide that they would look goofy? You won't effect cooling at all no matter what you do to your suspension so I wouldn't worry about aspect of it. Are you stock tires so shot that it would warrent this experiment?

They are a bit smaller, less taller, but they are as wide as they can fit in the back. My rear tires are shot, although I only had them for 4 months
. The front ones will be a bit taller, I'd say maybe an inch or less, but the rear lower ones will be way wider.
I guess I just want to know if this would be any kind of problem on the suspension or anything for that matter. Mind that I do not have a muffler and my exaust stops right after it bends over the rear end.
Also, I am getting this done friday morning, and I would probably need somebody to tell me if I should'nt do it, to really not do it.
I've seen some firebirds with back just lowered a bit and it looked nice. Let me know what you think?
Thanks.

Well my tire place found some 235 60 15's and I put them on the back, with 215 50 15's on the front.
They are about the size I wanted in the back. Beefie but not too beefie.
One thing I noticed though. My car is a lot faster with those tires on. I am not sure why, but I noticed a big difference in pickup and go and not something minimal, but a big difference indeed. I'd press the pedal one third and the car would pull seriously, compared to when I had the 215's in the back and the engine felt like its pulling way harder than what I noticed in the pickup and go. I am just soo happy that this is working out the way it is.
I dont know how much a new nose would contribute to this, but I changed my 89nose with ground effects which was pretty low, to a 82 transam nose much like the knight rider. Now, my airdam is hanging all the way under the nose. You can see the whole thing, and I do have a camaro airdam on there, so its way bigger than the firebird one.
All in all, I am just happy that today everything worked out the way its suposed to.
