What do you want to do? If you want to dragrace, try some Nitto 555Rs ($150ish a peice), if you want a good all around tire, try a DS-G3 ($175-$200 a peice). If you don't have the money for DS-G3s, try BFG GeForce KDWs ($130ish a peice), cheaper but still great tires. Nitto NT 450s are also great tires, and cost around $90-$100 a peice.

For size I'd stick with 255 or 265/50 in the rear, with something a little smaller in the front. But that's for appearance purposes.

I think you'd enjoy a 255/50/16 on those rims. Or are those 17s? I'm not sure.

A smaller wall size is a slimmer tire, and generally looks better and sleeker, but there are performance issues with smaller tires.

The difference between a 45 and a 50 is a very noticable one.

You are fine lowering. When you are talking about 255's and stuff like that, you are totally fine doing whatever. You have to start worrying once you get up to 275+......Just select a tire and toss it on. You are fine.

I'd personally do bigger in back, smaller in front, because I like the LOOK. Most people just get the same size all around.

Some get a normal size in he front, with HUGE ones in the back. Functional and looks nice.

those rims came with 275/40/17s stock if you are interested. I would go no smaller in the back, but you could get some 245/45/17s, 245/40/17s or 255/40 17s on the front.

Correct. I would run a 275/40 on those wheels. You can run a 285 tire on the rear if you wish but 275 is a great all around size for that wheel. Depending on the backspacing of the front wheels you may have rubbing with a 275 up front. If that is the case you may want to consider a 245/45.
