front vs. rear gta rims....

ok guys im having a brain fart here.....

i know i should know this too, but anyways,

i can pick up a set of 4 rear gta rims for cheap.....

can the rears be used on the front with a spacer?

if so where can i get said spacer from?

i know the difference in the offset is 16mm rear vs. 0mm front, and about an inch of backspacing.....

if anyone could help me out, id like to pick up these rims for my car.....if they won't fit i'll probably just end up buying all new ones lol.

16mm is ~5/8", so you could get close with a half inch spacer on the front. Not sure if that'll still make it clear though. Check your clearance to the tie rod end and that should give you a good idea.

Make sure you have ARP long studs on the front though so you get proper thread engagement on the lug nuts.

does anyone sell a spacer that will work for that??

like the bolt-on style that aren't just a slip on spacer?

those seem like a much better idea to me

5/8" is not thick enough to make a 'bolt on' spacer.

From the skulte website FAQ's:

Can you machine adapters thinner than 3/4"?
In order to have the proper strength for the lugnut and stud seats, the thinnest bolt-on adapters we'll machine is 3/4". Be advised that anything thinner than 1.25" will have the lugnuts sticking out past the face of the adapter, and requires cavity back rims where there are pockets in between the lugnut holes.

If it's strong enough for a race car, it's strong enough for a street car.

What track doesn't allow spacers? Are you talking about drag racing or road racing? Lots of LS1 guys use them at the drag strip to make Pro stars fit with minimal grinding at the drag strip and I know they've been used on road courses for a long time.

if they see a wheel spacer, you fail tech.

if you can convince them its an adapter maybe it would fly, but no spacers....its expressley prohibited.

specifically im talking about new england dragway which is an IHRA track

Do you have an IHRA book handy? This is from the NHRA book,

Do you still launch your car at 6K rpms?

ok maybe it was in the "street night" rule sheet from a year or 2 ago that i read that.

but seriously people, they are failing people at tech now for not having bolt on high pressure style valve stems on stock front rims with radials....on cars 11.99 and quicker with tubless tires.

i understand that on an aftermarket style rim, but there are factory cars that can theoretically get tossed right off the showroom floor now.
