springs

Tomarrow i has to remove and replace my springs as a lab out at school. The springs were just recently installed, less than 6 months.

Every manual or removal procedure says to just unbolt the inner pivots and drop the a-arm from the inner side. Will it be this simple?

Just unbolt the sway bar links and drop the a-arm from the inner pivot?. I'll chain the spring for safety and use a tranny jack under the arm to let it down slowly. I'll have access to a lift.

The arm will come down far enough to get my springs in and out though, right?

Any tips or does that pretty much cover it?

Well it will definitely work. The only problem i see is that its a PITA to remove those long *** bolts for the A- arm.

The only thing i see that your saving doing it this way is that you don't have to remove the ball joint. But its way easier to remove the ball joints than those bolts thats for sure.

Its actually really easy to just do it this way.

FWIW i made my own pickle fork for the ball joints out of 2 pieces of 1/4 plate steel.

Well the I believe the way the current springs were put in was by the inner pivots ( i hear they can be a pain). I figure since they were recently done it shouldnt be too bad. I plan on coating them good with antiseize when they go back in so they dont rust in the sleeve anytime soon.

Things went pretty well, and the ride smoothed out a bit now that the springs are indexed correctly...either that or the guy that installed them the first time torqued the A-arm and bound it up.

Either way it rides noticably smoother now.

PS- I had to drop my centerlink out to get to the front A-arm bolts for anyone reading.

You could have also turned the steering linkage full lock the opposite way, then the bolt has enough room to slide out.

yea, you need to crank the steering linkage over to clear it... should be easy otherwise.
