big power, traction and handling?

i'm planning a 1000 plus horse ls1 build. I need advice on rear suspension that will give me both resonable traction and handling. It will be a pretty wild street car with alot of track time too. any help would be appreciated

If you have the money to build a 1000 hp ls1 then spending more money to upgrade the transmission and suspension shouldn't be that hard. How much do you want to spend?

i think that most of the rear suspension i will build. I have many friends that do full tube race cars and can fab. just about anything, but i don't want it to just go in a straight line...... i'm thinking that i will lower the car an inch or so. Move the torque arm off the tranny, maybe to a crossmember/driveshaft loop combo. and of course it would be adjustable. but what about lca's? oh and an adjustable panard bar. will that be able to handle the power? I'm not sure it could.... i think i'd just be driving on ice

The style rear suspension on our cars works well. If you replace most of components with good quality adjustable parts you should have no trouble hooking or handling with a bit of tuning. I would suspect that the biggest factors on how you hook and handle will be your shocks and springs. Just remember, your 1000hp street machine will never be able to drag race and autox to the best of it's ability with the same suspension setup.
