my question is how much better would the boxed set be for straight line performance? is it worth the extra $30??

It has been my experiance that the boxed ones will be heavier. If it was strictly a drag car they might bw worth it, but for a street car or anything that spends a descent amount of time turning it's a lot of unsprung weight.
